Peace, love, and cookies

Williamsburg, Virginia circa 1979

Every year, we make gingerbread cookies for our friends and neighbors…and every year, I try to recreate the gingerbread I first tasted at Colonial Williamsburg as a child.  Not a cake, not a cookie…something in-between.  I continued to visit into adulthood while living in Virginia…never missing a trip to the bakery.

This year, success…I found the recipe!  Direct from the Raleigh Tavern, find the recipe here

A modern spin to an old recipe…a cookie cutter I found that looked a bit like my girls….short bob, little dress and all.  Peace, love, and cookies….with a little Mischief and Mayhem this season.

A lot of mountain dew and a little George Bailey made wrapping and tagging a bit easier.

Mischief helping make deliveries.

Back home and ready for Santa Claus.

Sorry Santa…I ate your cookies.

What a beautiful photographic journal you are creating for your daughter.

I wish I had seen this post before I was at the store today! I love gingerbread cookies, but don't have any molasses on hand!

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

thanks Holly, I do hope my girls enjoy reading this blog one day….and that it doesn't cause them too much grief…or counseling

Merry Christmas!

Love this idea of gingerbread men for the neighbors. The door on your house and the neighbors are incredible. You are surrounded by great architecture. Hope your Christmas Day was very special!

Thanks Trisha, that door belongs to my favorite house in town….lucky for us it's right across the street. Merry Christmas to your family

JCW,
Oh my word. That is just too precious. There is a bakery that I would go to as a young girl and loved the gingerbread cookies. Exactly as you say, not a cake, not a cookie, but something in between. What a sweet hand delivered, hand made gift.
I love that you ate Santa's cookies.
Happy 2014. Making the new year's rounds, getting caught up. Thinking about my gifts for 2014. Just might make some bourbon balls. Another fun memory.
