Lilly, I miss you...I've been missing you for some time actually.
...when you could wear a Lilly shift dress to the grocery store, running errands or chasing children? Fun yet functional dresses made for the busy Mom....some even with pockets. Modestly priced for a modest Mom?
The vision Lilly Pulitzer created has been usurped...by the college gal looking to "partay"...on top of a U-Haul no less. The patterns she created to disguise juice stains...now soak up bourbon and beer. Is this the new face of Lilly?
Hey, I attended my share of steeplechases back in the day. Fine. But ALL of the designs seem to be created with this type of activity in mind. I cannot wear backless, spaghetti strapped dresses to the Bi-Lo. I need a big ole bag of a dress, no waistline, and WITH pockets please. The simple shift dresses that make up my summer uniform are destined to become vintage before their time. Lilly, thank you for your original vision...I miss you.
