My studio space expanding. An impromptu workspace set-up in a light-filled corner of our living room.
Brushes ready...along with the inspiration for a new painting
A conch shell...tones of pink, pumpkin with hints of cerulean blue
A painting with dual purpose. An oval convex canvas for my own dining room. But it's also an exercise...to get the creative juices flowing. Prepping for the 3 ft x 4 ft canvas leaning up against the wall below. A painting commissioned by my sister and brother-in-law...an abstract, impressionist, color filled piece for their living room. A painting which he recently remarked...."is like a unicorn." Because it has....well, failed to materialize. A mystical piece of artwork that he has only heard about. Hey, this isn't posters.com folks.
I don't know what will come out on this canvas. Accustomed to painting with intent...medical illustration requiring studied accuracy. A fun experiment, diving into contemporary art...one that I hope will be enlightening so I can complete the "unicorn painting."
So I'm taking a cue from Mischief and Mayhem....who paint with no purpose other than to enjoy the medium. Paint and brushes busily covering their canvas.
Perhaps it's because no one is instructing them to "match the pillows."

You are so funny...that unicorn painting in the corner - HA! My 8 year old self would have taken it as is. Can't WAIT to see your oval shell painting. And eventually, your sister's...which of course must keep the title "Unicorn Painting" :)

So exciting! Looks like the perfect spot for inspiration (and distraction) given I know what prettiness must lie outside that window. :) Love the shell. I have a jar of shells collected on our vacations sitting on my desk.
Hope you will share your pieces with us.
So much to learn from the creativity of little ones!
Yay! Ready to paint, thats the very best.
Soooo...where's the painting? It's been TWO days.
