The Christmas Tree

via here
The Christmas Tree
published in Godey's Lady's Book 1850
illustrating Queen Victoria and Prince Albert
gathered around an early Christmas tree,
set upon a table

Years past, at the expense of our time and treasure, we've installed a large tree in our living room.  This year, we'll be shopping for a more tidy tannenbaum...to be planted in the middle of a round table.

Big or small...real or faux?
What type of tree will greet Santa in your home?

O Tannebaum....one of my most favorite things about Chirstmas is the tree. I have a batting tree that I need to put up and also we do "real." It seems we are a dying breed.

Oh..... I can't wait to see what you come up with! I hate to admit it but we went pre-lit faux here in Switzerland.... already have a strand of lights going on and off..... ha!.... the joys of Christmas. :)

Yesterday I did a little foraging in the woods for some decorations and when my husband came home and saw the two foot tall tree on the porch he said, 'the girls are going to be disappointed.' I hadn't actually intended it to be our tree, but now I think I am right on track.
All best,
Phyllis

Phyllis: was told the same about my girls. Will make up for the smaller tree by setting my trainset from childhood around the base. It never fit around our previous trees. Fingers crossed it works

Patricia: will have a $25 tree rather than the usual $90...a real tree and my husband will be reeeeeeal happy ha

Crissy: we need to see your tree. Did you bring it with you or did you buy it there? Would love to see how they do decorations? Is is much different...more or less?

I've stopped putting up big trees in the house. Instead I prefer smaller tabletop ones. Gorgeous examples here!
