In the studio...me. All day, all night. Juggling work, children and a tight deadline...my garden club's yearbook
High on Mountain Dew, I sketched until the early morning hours. The bird and the butterfly...symbols of our local club. Perched upon a yellow jessamine vine, our State flower
I scanned my sketch which I then tinted and painted with Adobe Photoshop. Wish I had time to paint by hand, but with a tight deadline...digital painting much more forgiving

Thanks to a quick turn-a-round by our local print shop (after much begging), our yearbook is done!
Bound and ready for our first meeting this week
Our yearbook...a guide, a resource and a scrapbook
Included some memorable arrangements from last year's meetings. Next year...a centerfold! Will take a special Spring Beauty arrangement for that spread
And most importantly, a calendar of this year's meetings and events
Looking forward to a new year with the Spring Beauties

Jennifer, you did a fantastic job! I think the end result is lovely - the other garden club members must be so happy. I'm impressed with all your juggling, too! Nice work. XO
Thanks so much...distributing tomorrow, fingers crossed everyone is pleased. Funny, I thought of your work and PvE as well while working on it (at 3:00 am ha) wishing I had time to paint it with watercolor.
I would love to be a mouse in the corner of your studio, or a little bird perched on your shoulder. It would be absolutely fascinating to watch you work. Your mind must travel at warp speed.
thank you Gail, my mind moving very slowly lately...need to catch up on some sleep. Always new deadlines to tackle
Would you mind giving me a lesson in photoshop coloring? I love the way the artwork turned out for the Garden Club booklet.
Now that all my kiddo's are planted in school, I will have a chance to complete some deadlines and get to blooming work! :)
Happy September.

PvE: there is nothing like using a brush and paint....but my "digital paintbrush" is very efficient. Looking forward to seeing what creations you have for your clients!
wow that was GREAT! and you are such a nice volunteer-never showing you the garden club yearbook i was in charge of a couple of years ago-or maybe i will-for a good laugh!
ha, Lucy....did it have curse words in it? Blog about it he he
I want one! So beautiful. SB
Whoa! Just hold on there a second, little Missy.
Surely you're not heading out for the weekend without telling us what the Garden Club thought of your beautiful yearbook, are you?
ha Gail...yes, it was well received. Just a utilitarian little book...but I still wanted it to be pretty. Guess who's in charge of next year's yearbook...
What's the old adage?
"If you want something done, ask a busy person."
Who knows, Jennifer...maybe next year you won't be swamped with work and can really enjoy its production. I know this for sure. It will be beautiful.
