Pulse
(oil on canvas)
Found among some family papers...an old newspaper clipping promoting a horse race circa 1910. Rather than sit in a box, I've framed it for my studio. Aged to a deep ochre...inspired by its texture and even its scent, like that of an vintage bookstore
A Thanksgiving race...but apparently not open to all races. Old paper...old ideas. Thankful the paper survived while that idea did not
Unable to articulate the reasons why I love vintage paper...it just makes me happy

No need to wait decades to achieve this look...I've included some free downloads of perfectly aged paper. Would love to see what you create with these samples. Enjoy

Hi, Jennifer -
Love your "Thanksgiving Race" paper clipping! (Unfortunately, that is part of the history of our great nation.) I love the fonts of old newspapers....this one is charming! I have a stack of Victorian garden journals....very fragile and well used.
Cheers,
Loi
Loi: I would faint to come across antique garden journals...what a treasure
Easy to romanticize the past...not always as pretty as our imagination, this newspaper clipping a reminder of that
I'll do a blog post on those old journals one day :-)
Being a Kentucky girl, I'd say that is quite a find.... and a stark reminder of how far we've come. Love how you've framed it. Not familiar with Fuzzimo.... wiill have to check them out. Have a great day!
