Oyster Roast by artist Shannon Smith

located in Charleston, South Carolina.
The trees are now bare, the days shorter and the excitement of the holidays past. But this time of year brings two of my favorite things...oyster roasts and camellias.
We roasted the New Year while eating oysters under spanish moss surrounded by rice fields and camellias. Located just south of Georgetown, South Carolina is Rice Hope Plantation dating back to 1735. Its current owners hosted an afternoon pig pickin' and oyster roast to celebrate the new year. A sublime location...clapboard dwellings full of hunting trophies and mature live oaks bordering a lowcountry marsh.

The 392 acres are managed to provide a "wildlife habitat for a wide range of animals." For more information or to inquire about renting the property see the link below
Fortunate guests of generous friends we finished up the day exploring Debordieu Colony...a respite before a night of good food, cocktails and ceaseless laughter.
LOOKING FORWARD TO A BRIGHT 2012
