Prepare the ground, nurture new growth

Gardening Glove-Tim Walker
Tim Walker's photographs are full of fantasy...the one above had me daydreaming of planting our fall/winter garden.

"Tim Walker’s photographs have entranced the readers of Vogue, month by month, for over a decade. Extravagant staging and romantic motifs characterise his unmistakable style."

The dirt is my canvas this time of year.  As with canvas, the soil must be prepared.  The impatiens had faded and the soil was exhausted.  Exhausted myself after a day spent prepping the beds around the house.

The courtyard...soon to be filled with pansies.

My late Grandfather's ("Big Daddy") yard tools.  Despite their age, they are my favorites. They must have served Big Daddy well for during a summer visit many years ago,  his Stepmother (Mrs. Joe) remarked that his "grass was entirely too green."  You can't please everyone.

I did have some help.  Mayhem pitched in...

...while Mischief waited for the Ice Cream truck with a neighbor

Great day spent in the dirt.  This is why I don't get manicures.

"A real gardener is not a man who cultivates flowers;
he is a man who cultivates the soil"

-Karel Capek
